Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
Our team is in-network with several major insurance plans, and we’re happy to help you navigate your mental health benefits. Because every plan is different, the best way to understand your coverage is to contact your insurance provider directly. Our administrative team can also answer questions, provide billing details, and make the process as smooth as possible.
If your therapist is not in-network with your insurance, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits to work with us.

How long does therapy last?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer—how long therapy lasts depends on you. Every individual and couple comes to therapy with unique goals, challenges, and hopes for what they want to change or understand.
Some people find clarity and relief in just a few months, while others choose to continue for longer-term growth and support. The length of therapy often reflects how you want to use it—whether that’s for immediate problem-solving, deeper emotional healing, or ongoing personal development.
What makes the biggest difference? Consistency and commitment. Showing up regularly, being open in the process, and applying insights between sessions are the most powerful ways to create real, lasting change.
Our therapists will collaborate with you to find a pace and plan that feels right for your needs and goals.
Do you offer any sliding scale appointments?
Yes! Beginning in January 2026, Foundations Therapy will be welcoming an MSW student intern to our team who will offer sliding scale therapy appointments.
We’re excited to make therapy more accessible to those who may not otherwise be able to afford weekly sessions. Our student therapist will be closely supervised by a licensed clinician on our team and will provide compassionate, high-quality care at a reduced rate.
More details about availability and scheduling will be shared as we get closer to January—check back soon or reach out to join the interest list.
What can I expect in the therapy process?
In the beginning, therapy is all about getting to know you. During the first 1–4 sessions, you and your therapist will focus on telling your story, exploring what brings you to therapy, and building a genuine connection.
This early phase is essential—it helps your therapist understand your experiences, values, and goals, and it gives you a sense of safety and trust in the relationship.
After building that foundation, you will move into treatment planning and goal setting. Together, you and your therapist will identify the areas you want to focus on, set achievable goals, and create a plan tailored to your needs.
With this roadmap in place, therapy becomes a collaborative space for insight, growth, and lasting change.
Are you an inclusive practice?
Yes! At Foundations Therapy, we are committed to creating a welcoming, affirming, and safe space for everyone. We work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, including diverse races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities, and faith traditions.
We understand that life can be complex, and we strive to meet each client with empathy, respect, and cultural humility. Our therapists use an intersectional approach to consider the ways different aspects of identity impact your mental health and relationships.
Everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued in therapy. At Foundations Therapy, inclusivity isn’t just a policy—it’s part of our core philosophy.
